Annual Report 2017

TWENTY
YEARS
OF
INSPIRING
GIRLS

Tamara HudginsAt Girlstart, we keep girls excited about science, technology, engineering, and math. Every day, we do informal STEM education programs for girls, so that they’ll be ready to solve our common global challenges.

We are 20 this year! We are honored to have been able to bring girls and STEM together for two decades. We are also making plans for our next two decades, and beyond. In this report to you, we will share this past year’s progress, including our expansion and growth in Houston and North Texas. We will soon begin to share our aspirations to be able to reach more girls across the nation . In the past 20 years, we have laid the groundwork for solid programs with demonstrable impact. Next, we aim to leverage this program model to be responsive nationally.

Because of you and your support, this new chapter is possible. Thank you!

Why I Give…

“Numbers speak for themselves regarding female participation in STEM: vocation or avocation. In a small measure, I hope this donation may assist in encouraging someone to see the spark, and follow a dream to fruition that encapsulates the tenets of STEM.”

“My mother has helped guide me and teach me about science and math my whole life, and I hope that we can pass on the great opportunities STEM has to offer to the young women who can help carve the future.”

Why I Give…

“In hopes of empowering girls to feel welcome, appreciated, and encouraged in STEM education, and, in doing so, making STEM fields more empathetic, supportive, and inclusive communities for everyone to spend their careers.”

“I hope… girls will be encouraged to become innovators, creators, and future technology leaders. Girlstart is a great initiative, and I support their effort to increase girl’s participation in STEM programs from an early age. I have a two year old daughter, and I want to help create a world where she has every opportunity to grow her interests in STEM fields.”

Legacy Society

We’re proud to make a lasting impact on the lives of girls we serve as well the alumnae we have already inspired. There are millions of girls that we have not reached-yet–but with your help, we can build a strong future for Girlstart girls. It won’t be easy. But we can get there, thanks to your vision and commitment.

Because we know that you are part of our family, we want to ask you to think about Girlstart’s future. Who are the Girlstart girls of 2047? 2087? The 22nd century?

By leaving part of your lasting legacy to Girlstart, you have the opportunity to shape the lives of tomorrow’s Girlstart girls.

Making a bequest to Girlstart in your Will is one way to ensure that Girlstart will be able to reach girls for generations to come. There are, however, many other options and opportunities for you to design how your legacy helps Girlstart’s future.

We thank you for helping us inspire the brave, creative girls of tomorrow!

For more information about establishing a legacy with Girlstart, contact legacy@girlstart.org.

“I chose to give to Girlstart because I want my legacy to be increasing the percentage of women in technology fields until it resembles society at large. I want those that come after me to never have to feel alone in an engineering class or a technical meeting.”
