12.03 – Solar Oven S’mores

  • Aluminum foil (enough to cover the bottom and lid of the box)
  • Black construction paper (enough to cover the walls of the box)
  • Cardboard box with lid (gift box, pizza box, etc.)

12.10 – Ice Lanterns

  • A cup of rocks, pebbles, beans, or any other small objects to act as weights
  • Battery operated tea light candle
  • Decorative pieces (e.g. pom pom, pipe cleaners, beads, glitter)

  • Freezer (or just place your lantern outside if the temperature is below freezing)
  • Large plastic cup

12.17 – Toilet Paper Roll Snowflakes

  • Aluminum foil
  • Cardboard

  • Hot glue gun and sticks

  • Spray paint (preferably silver or white)
  • 1-2 toilet paper rolls

12.18 – LED Superhero Logo

  • Cardstock (serves as base for circuit)
  • Clear tape
  • 1 3V coin cell battery
  • Conductive copper tape (can be purchased here)

  • LED light bulb (5 mm diameter)

  • 30-ft piece of string (or longer)
  • 4 16-oz plastic cups (the cups should be big enough that your hand can fit inside)

Dream Big

Wrap up the last day of DeSTEMber and launch into the New Year by thinking about your goals. When you set goals, it is important to think big about the goals you want to achieve and how you are going to achieve them. Decorate a bookmark with your goals. Write a letter to your future self as a reminder to dream big and stay motivated to reach your goals.
