12.01 – Virtual Reality

  • Smartphone
  • Virtual Reality Viewers (can be purchased here)

12.02 – Dancing Man

  • ½ inch straw piece
  • Mini Styrofoam ball/bead
  • Paper cup
  • 1 pipe cleaner
  • Scissors
  • Stapler with staples
  • Wire

12.03 – Solar Oven S’mores

  • Aluminum foil (enough to cover the bottom and lid of the box)
  • Black construction paper (enough to cover the walls of the box)
  • Cardboard box with lid (gift box, pizza box, etc.)
  • Chocolate
  • Glue stick
  • Graham crackers
  • Large marshmallow
  • Saran wrap (enough to cover the top opening of the box)
  • Scissors
  • Wooden dowel

12.04 – Sphero™

  • SpheroTM (can be purchased here)
  • Smartphone or tablet

12.05 – Circuit Reindeer

  • 6 brown pipe cleaners
  • 1 clothespin
  • 1 3V coin battery
  • Electrical tape
  • 1 red LED light bulb
  • 2 4-6” 24-gauge insulated wire
  • Scissors or wire strippers

  • Small box or pot (big enough for planting seeds and 1-cup soil)

12.10 – Ice Lanterns

  • A cup of rocks, pebbles, beans, or any other small objects to act as weights
  • Battery operated tea light candle
  • Decorative pieces (e.g. pom pom, pipe cleaners, beads, glitter)
  • Food coloring
  • Freezer (or just place your lantern outside if the temperature is below freezing)
  • Large plastic cup
  • Small plastic cup
  • Tape
  • Water

12.11 – Pinecone Hygrometer

  • 2 L bottle
  • Glue
  • Graph paper
  • Pen
  • Pinecone
  • Straight pin
  • Tape

12.12 – Pendulum Painting

  • Broom
  • 2 chairs
  • 8-12 oz. foam or paper cup
  • Large piece of butcher/craft paper, or other surface to be painted
  • Paint
  • Plastic tablecloth/Drop cloth
  • Scissors
  • Sharp pencil
  • String

  • Clear tape

  • 2 pieces of paper (construction or plain)

  • Such as: a CD case, rectangular plastic bottle, plexiglass, or transparency film
  • Clear tape or super glue
  • Graph paper or trapezoid template

12.16 – Boomerang Can

  • Hex nut (1 in. wide)
  • Hole puncher
  • Large rubber bands
