The Houston Zoo is a world-renowned conservation leader and works with organizations around the world to save wildlife. Deforestation is an issue for many animals around the world, including orangutans in Asia. Orangutans use the canopies of trees to cross rivers and join other orangutan populations, however, palm oil plantations have been created by tearing down large areas of rainforests and destroying orangutan habitats. Since many trees have been cut down, researchers decided to create artificial bridges to allow these fragmented populations to meet.

Design and create your own artificial bridges to save the orangutans in this Rope Bridges activity!
