 NOTE FROM RACHEL

NewsletterSummer is just around the corner, and we are thrilled to be offering some of the best summer camps in Austin for girls... hands down! Girlstart has become known for innovative and fun camps that not only engage girls in math and science, but also allow girls to be in a safe environment that promotes teamwork, achievment and discovery. But if you ask any girl what they get out of our camps, you'll most likely hear that friendship and fun are the major pluses!

And although Christmas is months away, please don't forget to periodically check out our Girlstart wishlist. We're always going strong with our programming, but we still need support throughout the year to meet the needs of the girls who participate in Girlstart's outstanding programs. Thank you!

Summer Camp Spaces Filling Quickly!

Summer Camp '08

The buzz is in the air: Girlstart’s camps are the hottest place to be this summer! Girlstart's week-long summer day camps in math, science, and technology are for girls entering the 4th-8th grades and NOW 9th graders, too! Each camp is Monday through Friday, from 8:30am-4:30pm at the Girlstart Tech Center on West Anderson lane. This summer, campers will scrub in at Girlstart's own ER, broadcast breaking news, unmask the mysteries of science, and more! Register at www.girlstartcamp.org.

Register for Discovery Planet today, and your camper can report on natural disasters in front of a real green screen! Girlstart has the technology that will make a tornado appear to be right behind you!

If you have any questions email info@girlstart.org.

   VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Attention High School Girls!

VolunteersThere are still open slots for summer camp volunteers! These volunteers provide support for the Girlstart staff and the summer camp counselors by assisting with curriculum preparation, photography, snack set-up and clean-up, and other organizational/logistical duties as needed. Weeks are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and they are filling up fast! All volunteers must attend a mandatory volunteer training before their week of camp. Email Sarah Haegelin for a schedule and to find out more about how you can get involved. Come have a blast at Girlstart this summer!

Visit our volunteer page to see how you can get more involved with Girlstart!
