Convection Current Weather
Have you ever wondered about the science behind thunderstorms? Thunderstorms are caused by unstable air, usually between warm air and an approaching cold front. These two bodies collide and the convection currents between them impact the weather. Check out this demonstration with water, food coloring, and ice to see how it happens!
Foaming Snowman

Extra tip: The materials list does not mention an aluminum pan, but using one may help with containing messes.
Candle Burning
Do you know what fuels a flame? It’s oxygen! Explore how fire uses air to burn in this experiment using differently sized glasses. When you cover a burning candle with a glass, what happens? Does it eventually go out? When a candle runs out of oxygen fuel, it will go out on its own. What happens when you use a small glass? A large glass? What do you think would happen if you put two burning candles under the glass? Would they burn for the same amount of time? Make sure you ask an adult to help you with lighting the candles!
