Hands-On Wednesday: Hot Chocolate Science

Hot Chocolate Science

When doing a science experiment, we always have to ensure that we have independent and dependent variables, and a constant. At Girlstart, we believe that it doesn’t hurt if one of our constants is yummy hot chocolate mix! Follow the scientific process to see at which temperatures hot chocolate dissolves best. Hopefully the result will be a yummy treat!

Hands-On Wednesday: Make Your Own Fossils

Make Your Own Fossils

Have you ever found a fossil, or wondered how they are made? Explore the process of this activity! Things like seashells, sticks, or bones leave impressions in the dirt that can become filled with minerals coming from groundwater. The minerals harden in the mold left behind and show us what the object used to look like! Use glue, clay, and some objects found around the house or inside to create your own fossils!

Hands-On Wednesday: Puff Mobile

Puff Mobile

In this hands-on activity, use lifesavers, straws, paper, paperclips, tape, and scissors to create a car! Here’s the catch: it can only be powered by wind. How will you make sure the wheels can spin without falling off? Will your car have a sail on it, or will you use something else to power it by wind? Think about these questions as you engineer your own puff mobile!
