After a mini lesson on food webs and energy flow diagrams, girls predicted the influence of humans on various ecosystems. Then, they built and tested a pipeline to transport oil from one location to another. They wrapped up the activity with a discussion on building environment-friendly structures.

This year was no different- girls spent the day participating in workshops with an emphasis on science, technology, and teamwork! This year Girlstart hosted its largest conference yet with 650+ girls!
Girlstart hosts the ‘Girls in STEM Conference’ each year to promote exploration of STEM careers. The conference is open to 4th-8th grade girls and includes workshops led by women in science, technology, engineering, and math fields.
