This week, our girls built and attached wind turbines to toy cars to create wind-powered vehicles. As part of the design process, they systematically tested and made modifications to their turbine. Then, they compared their results to see which cars traveled the fastest!

One way is by measuring wind speed using a device known as an anemometer. Design your own anemometer and test the wind in your neighborhood. By counting the amount of spins at a given interval, you can tell how fast the wind is moving.
