Do you know what happens when you mix oil and water? The oil floats on top of the water because it is less dense. Now add some salt and VOILA! You get your very own lava cup! Because salt is heavier than oil, it sinks into the water pulling the oil with it, and when it dissolve…up goes the oil. This gives a real cool effect. Check it out!

Our Love Letter to You
Big hugs for our volunteers – Girlstart wouldn’t be possible without the time and dedication of our wonderful volunteers. From helping out with marketing to spending their weekend teaching hands-on STEM activities, our volunteers’ hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.
Spread the love today – Last summer, Girlstart opened an office in North Texas and expanded the after-school program to 15 schools in the area! Our community efforts have made STEM learning fun and accessible!
Put your love for STEM Education into action – Amplify Austin gives local nonprofits a platform for fundraising and donations. This year, Google Fiber is giving a matching grant for $10,000! Help our mission to increase girls’ involvement in STEM and consider donating. Even a few dollars can go a long way!
