Katelyn Wamsted
Katelyn is Girlstart’s Chief Program Officer, where she develops and leads our nationally-recognized informal STEM education programs for girls. Katelyn provides operational direction, strategic support, and team facilitation to Girlstart’s staff including hundreds of college-age students who implement the programs. From staff to the participants Girlstart serves, Katelyn cultivates a culture where risk is rewarded, curiosity is encouraged, and creativity is expected. Through her leadership, Girlstart’s programming has expanded at both the state and national level while maintaining cultural fidelity and standards- and research-based methodology. As part of her collaborative engagement with the national informal science community, Katelyn serves on the Texas Girls Collaborative Project Leadership Team, presents regularly at national conferences, and recently completed a six-year term on the Informal Science Education Association of Texas Board of Directors. Katelyn has a BBA from Texas A&M University and joined the Girlstart team in 2005.
