Thank You Tableau Software Volunteers!

This spring, a group from Tableau Software joined us at the Girlstart Austin offices to help prepare materials for our after school programs and community events.

As a group, they cut materials for a variety of lessons, including tulle & PVC pipes for plastic rescue, notecards for bee hummers, and toilet paper rolls for marshmallow slingshots. We’d like to give a big thank you for their help and support!

Thank You Deep in the Heart of STEM Volunteers!

In partnership with H-E-B Free First Sundays at the Bullock Museum, Girlstart presented our annual Deep in the Heart of STEM event on Sunday, February 2nd.

Deep in the Heart of STEM is a great way for families to explore the connections between history and STEM through interactive demos and hands-on activities. We had several volunteers attend and lead activities such as wind energy and pinwheels, drag racing cars, and LED light-up wearables.

Thank You Monthly Volunteer Night Volunteers!

To kick off the new year, Girlstart introduced a new volunteer opportunity with our Monthly Volunteer Nights! Girlstart is opening its office the third Tuesday each month for interested volunteers to help with various projects and prep tasks. We had a great turnout for our January and February volunteer nights, and those who joined us ensured all materials were prepped for our spring After School programs and community events.

We will host volunteer nights throughout the year and look forward to welcoming familiar faces as well as new ones when we start these back up in the fall of 2020!
