Thank You 2019 Volunteers!

2019 was a great year and we had hundreds of volunteers help in various capacities throughout the country. Volunteers prepped materials for after school, summer camps, and various public STEM events. They cut cardboard, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, helped with mailings, painted, led hands-on activities, fixed computers, guest spoke, presented at Girls in STEM, assembled journals, and so much more.

We are thankful for everyone who helped this past year to make programs such a success and I look forward to another amazing year in 2020!

Thank You Austin Game Changers Luncheon Volunteers

Girlstart hosted its annual Game Changers Luncheon on Tuesday, October 29th at the JW Marriott in downtown Austin. It was a great celebration of women in STEM and essential funds were raised for Girlstart programs.

A big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped the day of. Volunteers helped setup the ballroom and foyer, sold merchandise, ushered guests, and helped ensure the event was successful. We are so appreciative of their help.

We are also so thankful for our Central Texas Council and luncheon sponsors who raised funds to support Girlstart programming throughout the country. Thank you for supporting the work that we do!

Thank You 3M Volunteers

During the week of September 23rd, 3M volunteers joined us at various after school programs in Central Texas as part of their Visiting Wizards program. 3M guest speakers led after school girls in a hands-on activity titled “The Power of Numbers” where participants learned about data collection and analysis. Girls enjoyed an extra special treat as they measured and weighed Oreos to create a graph.

Thank you 3M for your continued support and making STEM fun for our participants!

Thank You Chevron Volunteers

Throughout the months of September and October, Chevron employees volunteered their time to help prep materials for our after school programs. Volunteers assembled STEM journals, traced gliders, cut foam for LED circuits, and much more. Chevron CEO, Mike Wirth, even joined in on the fun!

We are so thankful to have partners who continuously donate resources and time to support Girlstart programs. Thank you!
