Meet Nila John!

Nila John is a marine engineer who fell in love with the sea on her first visit to the Cochin University of Science and Technology in Kochi, India. During her first year of study, Nila had a difficult time fitting in with all of her male classmates, but her interest in marine engineering only grew. Now she believes that being a woman may have actually been a crucial reason for her success. As South India’s first female marine engineer, when asked where she sees herself in the future she responded with “Out at sea, hopefully!”. Nila is confident that the world of engineering will change for the better with more female cadets like herself.
