Hour of Code
December 7, 2022
Event Navigation
The largest learning event in history!
Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet, but only 51% of all high schools offer computer science. Young women and students from marginalized racial and ethnic groups are severely underrepresented in computer science classes, and in the tech industry. Good news is, we’re on our way to change this.
Spend an hour (or more!) learning to code with some of Girlstart’s favorite Hour of Code™ activities listed below:
NASA’s Space Jam
Create a solar system that really rocks! Learn about music, astronomy, and coding in this self-guided activity. Program planets to make music, creating your own musical solar system, complete with spacey melodies.
SciGirls: Code Quest
In this online coding adventure, youth take Subby the submarine through underwater challenges, using code to find various items and collect scientific data on the ocean floor.
