Girlstart’s Discovery Green STEM Saturday initiative includes fun hands-on STEM activities that foster general awareness about STEM and encourage children and families to recognize that ‘STEM is everywhere.’

Speed It Up
How fast can you make your car go?! Design a paper towel roll vehicle and observe the forces needed to power your car. Does your car move faster or slower the farther you pull the strings apart?
To celebrate the moonGARDEN exhibition at Discovery Green (open September 29-October 7), Girlstart will provide a take home activity for kids to explore the relationship between the Sun, the Moon, and the Earth.
