Meet Shannon Messner!

Job Title: Sr. Designer and Illustrator, Artemis Communications Team, NASA

Shannon Messner is a graphic designer and digital illustrator who currently resides in Reston, Virginia.  She discovered her love for art and illustration as a young girl, and this discovery lead her on a path that eventually became her life-long career.

What is your favorite thing about your career? The art of visual storytelling often elicits emotional responses from the audiences who view the work, and the ability I have to help in the creation of those emotions is my favorite thing about my career. Not everything I create is meant to be impactful – sometimes it’s just to convey information – but when I am able to work on projects that truly connect and resonate with people, I feel the most fulfilled.

What is one piece of advice that you would tell someone who is interested in pursuing your career? The biggest piece of advice that I would give is to never stop creating! Explore different avenues when it comes to design, including motion graphics, video editing, and web design!
