We hope you had a great time tracking the Moon during the month of December. Here are some fun facts about the Moon that you can share with your family and friends:

  • The Moon orbits the Earth every 27.3 days.
  • Earth’s Moon is the fifth-largest moon in the Solar System!
  • The Moon is 238,900 miles away from Earth.
  • The side of the Moon that we can see from Earth is called the near side, while the opposite side is called the far side.
  • The Moon is very hot during the day but very cold at night. It can get as hot as 260 degrees Fahrenheit or as cold as negative 280 degrees Fahrenheit!
