Enjoy starry STEM fun at Girlstart!
Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the first Thursday of every month (except January, June, July, August, and December), with each month featuring a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. Family members of all ages and genders are welcome.
Enjoy these hands-on STEM activities:
- Celebrate the Chinese New Year as you experiment with vibrations and sound as you create a drum!
- Get an intro to coding as you code a robot to pick up red envelopes for the Lunar New Year!
- Explore how a rotor works while building a replica of the bamboo dragonfly toy invented in ancient China around 400-500 BC.
- Experiment with lift, drag, and thrust as you learn about the relationship between kites and the Chinese New Year!
Reminder: Chaperones are required. Adults must stay with their children throughout the event.
