– Girls in STEM participant
Drop Off Information
Drop-off is between 10:00am-10:30am at the front of Alief Taylor High School. Download the drop-off map here (2024 map available soon!) Girlstart recommends drop-off as no parents can attend Girls in STEM workshops. Volunteers will guide girls to the check-in tables, where each girl will receive her t-shirt and conference schedule; volunteers will then help girls find the opening session that kicks off the day at 10:30am.
All supplies will be provided, so items such as backpacks may be left at home. Please dress appropriately for the weather, including a light jacket if necessary. If girls must bring a phone or smart device, we request that girls keep their cell phones turned off throughout the conference to avoid disruption. Girlstart is not responsible for lost personal belongings.
Pick Up Information
Pick-up will begin at 3:30pm at the front of Alief Taylor High School; no student supervision will be available after 4:15pm. Download the pick-up map here (2024 map available soon!) The pick-up process is similar to a school’s pick-up procedure; please stay in your car as Girlstart volunteers direct you forward and your daughter will be released to you. We encourage parents to create a legible sign with your daughter’s name to help facilitate the pick-up process. Thank you for your patience as we safely get all participants into cars.
Conference Information
A pizza lunch will be provided. (If your daughter has special dietary needs, please pack a lunch for her.)
Adults cannot attend the workshops. The event will not be canceled due to weather unless conditions are severe.

We understand that unexpected situations arise that may impact your daughter’s ability to join us for Girls in STEM. To minimize confusion on the day of the event, should an unexpected cancellation be necessary, we encourage you not to call our Girlstart emergency number, as it will be impossible to cancel registrations on November 16th and/or to transfer registrations to another girl.
Attend with Friends
Your daughter may attend the conference with up to three registered friends. Please email us at camps@girlstart.org or call 512-916-4775 ext. 2833 by Sunday, November 3rd to guarantee your friend request. All parties must be registered by November 3rd to guarantee group registration.
