Dallas ISD STEM Expo

The Dallas ISD STEM Expo is open to ALL Dallas area families! Come experience over 100 hands-on STEM exhibits and the Dallas ISD STEM championships in mathematics, science, robotics, technology, and bridge building!

Elementary, middle, and high school students and parents will participate with field experts, community members, educators, industry partners, and STEM organizations in a broad range of high-quality STEM experiences that spark awareness and raise interest in STEM topics, careers, and degrees.

Austin, TX: February Starry Night @ Girlstart

Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the first Thursday of every month and each event features a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. Family members of all ages and genders are welcome!

Enjoy these hands-on STEM activities:

  • Construct a drum to help celebrate the Chinese new year and to study the sound waves that help create the noise of the drums.
  • Create your own abacus, used in Ancient China, that can help you count by ones, or even skip count.
  • Learn about the history and importance of the Great Wall of China and build a model of it out of toothpicks and marshmallows.
  • Explore how a rotor works while building a replica of the bamboo dragonfly toy invented in ancient China around 400-500 BC.
