Austin, TX: Eclipse Party @ Girlstart
Enjoy the upcoming total solar eclipse at Girlstart’s viewing party! We’ll be giving out free pairs of eclipse glasses and you’ll learn about the sun through hands-on STEM fun. Enjoy these fun activities:
- Eclipse Glasses Modification: Create an effective tool for safely observing the solar eclipse
- Eclipse in a Cup: Why doesn’t an eclipse happen every month? Learn why as you construct a mini eclipse model that demonstrates the relationship between the earth, moon, and sun.
- Solar Power Challenge: Use the design thinking process to build a prototype of an object or item that uses solar power.
- Code an Eclipse: Let’s simulate an eclipse by coding a tiny robot with patterns and colors!
- Starlab: We will host star shows in our mini-planetarium all event long! Don’t forget to catch a longer star show at our Starry Nights, the first Thursday of every month!
