Girlstart Summer Camps are week-long STEM programs for girls entering the 4th-8th grades in 2018-2019. These programs achieve consistent positive outcomes by combining formal and informal educational strategies with challenging and relevant STEM curriculum. Our camps provide individualized experiences that develop a strong conceptual understanding of STEM subjects and increase students’ interest in STEM careers.
This week, Girlstart students (and future geologists!) reviewed physical weathering and the slow changes to Earth’s surface caused by weathering, erosion, and deposition from water, wind, and ice. They learned about the formation of four different types of sand dunes and came up with different solutions to prevent sand dune migration.
