Featuring the Mayan Skies Star Shows
Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! Starry Nights are held the 1st Thursday of every month (except January, June, July and August), with each month featuring a new astronomy experience and related hands-on activities. All ages are welcome to stop by any time between 5:30pm and 7:00pm.
Hands-on activities include:
– Make a device to shoot a ball through a hoop on a Mayan ceremonial ballcourt
– Explore Mayan archaeological sites through Virtual Reality
– Design and create an ancient ceremonial mask
– Construct a replica of an ancient Mayan pyramid

Featuring Ancient Chinese Legend Star Shows
Girlstart’s STEM Studio and Mini-Planetarium is a unique space for families to explore astronomy! – Explore legendary dragons and reptile adaptations
– Engineer a Chinese multi-tiered pagoda tower
– Build a flying bamboo dragonfly toy

This experiment may make your hair a little messy, but the result looks like magic! Teach your friends all about static electricity by repelling an empty soda can across the room using a charged balloon.
Before you feast on some turkey this week, be sure to get outside and enjoy the fall weather. Learn about the biology of trees by collecting some fallen leaves on the way to observe the veins. Once you’re done, use the leaves to make some neat fall decorations!
